After having worked in the disability (Japan and Australia), Youth Work (UK) and Mental Health (Australia) fields and helping those who are in need, Ryo decided to widen his target group to include everyone who needs help, so he became a massage therapist. He completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage at the Australian College of Massage in 2013 and started working as a Remedial Massage Therapist.
Ryo uses a mixture of firm and soft techniques in his massage. He uses firm pressure during deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy or acupressure. Gentler techniques are used for Swedish ‘Relaxation’ massage, Myofascial release and manual Lymphatic drainage. Previously Ryo worked at a natural health clinic, focusing on women’s health which provided him extensive experience in pregnancy massage. He can also include reflexology in most massage routines.
Ryo is a qualified Pilates instructor (with extra training for pregnancy Pilates) and a keen Yoga Practioner and martial artist. He is more than willing to give advice on how to strengthen core muscles, advice on glute activation and shoulder stability and well as providing some tips on how to stretch tight muscles correctly.
Ryo also likes and appreciates Osteopathic approaches and treatments and will work alongside our Osteopaths to achieve the best results possible for each of our clients.
