Bachelor of Osteopathic Science
Member of Osteopathy Australia
Simone trained at RMIT in Melbourne, graduating in 1996. Following graduation she practiced in Singapore for 2 years, followed by 4 years in Newcastle in the north of England. She returned to Australia in 2003.
Simone has undertaken further study since graduating. She has completed post graduate studies in “Osteopathy in Obstetrics”. This involves understanding the physical adaptations of the body during pregnancy and how this contributes to the common musculoskeletal symptoms many women experience during and post pregnancy, such as pelvic, back and rib pain. She has also completed a postgraduate certificate in pre and post natal yoga teaching. Whist she is not a yoga teacher herself, Simone is involved in teaching on pregnancy yoga teacher training courses. Along with yoga teachers, Simone has also presented to midwives, her local division of General Practitioners and more.
Her interest in yoga has also seen her work with a yoga teacher to design and run yoga classes for people with back problems. These proved very popular, and helped reconnect the patient with their body. This awareness is very important in preventing back problems.
To complement her structural approach to treatment, Simone has done postgraduate training in Osteopathy in the Cranial Field (OCF and biodynamics). By having a broad range of technique styles, Simone is able to adapt her treatments to best suit the patients age and presenting symptoms.
Whilst having a particular interest in treating pregnant women, Simone enjoys seeing all patients from newborns to the elderly. She likes to take the time to get to know each patient, making them feel heard and supported to achieve the most appropriate treatment.
Simone opened Northside Therapies in 2005. Since its inception Northside Therapies has gone from strength to strength.
Simone is married and has 3 beautiful sons.
