Matteo is an Italian osteopath with an interest in sports science. He completed a degree in sports science before discovering his passion for osteopathy. He completed his osteopathic studies through the International College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) in Italy and Kingston University in England.
Matteo has worked in private practice in Dunedin. He enjoys using a range of treatment approaches including soft tissue massage, articulation, manipulation (where you may hear a pop sound) as well as more gentle techniques including fascial release and cranial approach. He tailors techniques to suit both the presenting symptoms and patient wishes.
Whilst in NZ Matteo worked extensively with Southern United Football Club (one of NZ’s national league soccer teams) seeing both senior and junior players. His role was not only clinical management of pain and injuries but also involved educating players and parents about the importance of the correct injury management, rehabilitation, injury prevention and nutrition for elite athletes. Matteo has also had the opportunity to treat professional rugby players ex-including ex- All Black players.
With his background in sports science Matteo loves to integrate the manual therapy with some simple and reliable exercises in order to improve the effectiveness of treatment outcomes. Matteo loves working with patients of all ages from children to the elderly.
Matteo’s favourite latin saying is “Faber est suae quisque fortunae” which means that everybody is the owner of their destiny.
